THE IMPORTANCE OF LICENSING IN THE PASTRY BUSINESS
INTERVIEW WITH ANNAMARIA BERTOLDI, PRODUCT MANAGER MODECOR
In recent years there has been a real boom in Licensing contracts in the pastry business, but we are proud to say that Modecor has been a pioneer in its sector, becoming the licensee of major brands such as Barbie, Warner Bros, and Disney over twenty years ago, when the world of licensing was still the prerogative of just a few companies.
This far-sightedness has made it possible to achieve important results that have increased its positioning in the market, and which continue to be a winning idea for the products of the company from Cuvio.
Annamaria Bertoldi, Product Manager Modecor, gives us the details:
“If a brand is particularly popular, the pastry shop that offers products of that brand will definitely see an increase in turnover: a biscuit is always good, but a biscuit decorated with one of your favourite characters can only become delicious!
Modecor offers a vast assortment of branded products that can be used to make a birthday party particularly special: wafer discs to decorate the cake, candles, three-dimensional plastic figurines, non-alcoholic fruit drinks etc. Additionally, we also offer decorations for biscuits or fantastic figurines in sugar and gelatine that can make any delicious moment special.”
Which have been the winning licenses over the years?
Over the years, the brands that have led to fantastic and sometimes unexpected results, have undoubtedly been Disney, with High School Musical or Frozen, together with the classics Mickey & Friends, and the Princesses. Along with these, lots of other brands have also become classics and are loved by all children: Peppa Pig, Masha & the Bear, Paw Patrol, Minions, and 44 Cats, just to mention a few.
Can you give us a preview on the upcoming novelties?
The latest novelties are Cocomelon, an absolute novelty because it’s the first time that we tie ourselves to a digital native brand. In fact, it’s the first kids’ channel (pre-school target) on YT and Netflix, with over 39 million views in Italy. Furthermore, following the excellent performance with Despicable Me, we re-launch Minions for the release of the second film scheduled for August. Minions is a brand loved by grownups and children, and we are certain that it will be remarkably successful.
