With almost thirty years of expertise in the ice-cream and confectionery sector, Blend Coberturas has been part of the Casa Optima Group since 2019. The Brazilian company, located in São Paulo, more precisely in Cotia, is a pulsating centre of creativity and innovation where a team of 120 people work with passion and dedication. We talk about this with Andrea Elpidio Dell’ Aversana who as head of the Brazilian subsidiary Mec3 do BRASIL and Regional Sales Manager Americas & Australia, is also in charge of the “Blend Coberturas” brand products that are part of the MEC3 DO BRASIL portfolio.

What is Blend’s core business?

Acquired in 2019 from a family company, Blend immediately conquered the market with a clear and innovative mission: to offer sugar free ice-cream without compromising on taste. Thanks to our research and development, we have succeeded in creating products that satisfy the most demanding palates, guaranteeing sweetness and creaminess without added sugar. 

 

How has the company changed since becoming part of the Casa Optima Group?

Since joining the Casa Optima group, the company has undergone a radical transformation. We are now more structured and committed to a customer- oriented approach. The synergy with Mec3 has allowed us to take advantage of the shared resources and skills, accelerating our growth. Through targeted digital strategies and effective branding campaigns, we have strengthened our brand and increased customer satisfaction. The integration into the group has made us a more dynamic company, ready to face the challenges of the future with confidence. 

 

What is your role?

In addition to the ongoing management of our resources, I personally intervene in the development of new products. This involvement is essential to maintain a high level of innovation and to ensure that each new creation reflects our standards of excellence. 

 

What is the growth potential? And in which markets?

Looking towards the future, we see enormous growth potential. The Brazilian market is still maturing, but the prospects are promising. In addition, the American and Central American markets could offer great satisfaction.

 

Which are the best-selling products?

Among our best sellers are the flavouring pastes without added sugars and the fruit variegates. 

Which are the best performing novelties launched this year?

This year, one of the most successful novelties was the line "Brasileiríssimo". Inspired by the tropical fruits typical of the Brazilian regions, this range of pastes and variegates was a huge success. "Brasileiríssimo" is not just a product, but a sensory journey that brings the essence of Brazil directly to the ice cream parlour and pastry shop, reinforcing our commitment to offer quality and innovation.

 

Do you also produce tailor made products for professionals?

We are proud to offer tailor-made products for professionals. Whether it be an ice-cream maker, a restaurateur or a large-scale retailer, our customized products meet the needs of every customer. 

Any anticipations for the next season?

We are working on nine creations that celebrate the richness and diversity of Brazil, transforming traditional ingredients into innovative and delicious products.
